DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:Working alone and with a team, you will complete high quality of work in the following areas:
Building foundations
Draintile and other earthwork
Framing for new and renovated homes
Installation of all types of siding
Installation of flooring and other finishing materials
Demolition work for renovations
Other work can include insulation, drywall, material handling
We exist to provide the best possible value to our clients through our finished product as well as timely, clean, and safe completion of the work. Your leadership will play a critical role as the eyes, ears, and hands on site to ensure a high quality standard for all projects completed by yourself and your team. As the lead worker for a crew of junior carpenters and apprentices, you will:
Ensure the team is working efficiently and safely
Ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
Provide guidance, mentorship, and training
Assign daily tasks to team members based on skill level and job requirements
Ensure proper allocation and use of tools, materials, and equipment
Enforce safety regulations and ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols
Inspect work performed by team members to ensure it meets client and company quality expectations
Your leadership on the tools will ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner. You will collaborate with the Manager of Operations on problem-solving and decision-making. Where practical you will:
Identify any potential issues and address them proactively to avoid delays or rework.
Provide on-site troubleshooting and resolve technical or procedural issues that arise during construction
Make decisions on the fly when unexpected challenges occur, ensuring minimal disruption to the work schedule
Act as a liaison between workers and the Manager of Operations
Report daily progress, issues, and concerns to the appropriate leadership team
Maintain effective communication with other teams or trades on-site to ensure smooth coordination
Project Documentation:
Maintain records of work completed, including daily logs, safety inspections, and time tracking
Assist in managing inventory and ordering materials when necessary
Team Performance Management:
Actively contribute to the development of apprentices by providing on-the-job training and support
Contribute to performance reviews for team members when necessary
Assist in evaluating and addressing performance issues and help with corrective actions if needed
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Highly skilled Red Seal Carpenter with a minimum of 8 years' experience in residential construction including foundations, framing, building decks, and more.
Minimum of two years experience with installation of all siding types
Experience with energy efficient building science and techniques
Reliable transportation with valid Driver's License
High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree and/or degree in construction or trade management strongly preferred, but not required
