We’re looking for a driven and curious Lead Planner / Scheduler in Toronto to support various Transit and Rail projects. As a leader on a large multi-billion-dollar Transit / Rail Program, you’ll be responsible for Schedule review and analysis which includes:

  • Analysis of Contractor’s schedule progress and performance, identify potential issues and problem areas, and provide reports to the project management team.
  • Prepare and issue schedule analysis narratives including recommendations for corrective actions that are used by the project management team to manage the work.
  • Undertake forensic schedule analysis and provide report to the project management team.
  • Undertake what-if schedule analysis and present the results to the project management team.
  • Clean up Contractor’s schedule or develop analysis-ready schedule that reflects Contractor’s schedule logic as preparation for quantitative schedule risk analysis.
  • Undertake quantitative schedule risk analysis, interpret the output, and present the result to the project management team and/or other stakeholders.
  • Understand and interpret contractual requirements and provide appropriate comments on Contractor’s schedules and reports.
As a Lead Planner / Scheduler your responsibilities will include reporting, teamwork, leadership, initiative, and stakeholder management such as:
  • Prepare and present schedule analysis/assessment reports on a regular and as-required basis.
  • Provide inputs to various project/program level reports.
  • Seated in a project office, work as part of a project team.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative work relationships with the internal project team members and the external entities such as clients, partners, and Contractors.
  • Manage the relationships between the scheduling, estimating, cost control, and risk management for a project and program.
  • Lead junior level scheduler(s) and provide directions and guidance.
  • Tutor and guide project controls staff in scheduling fundamentals, procedures, and guidelines.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the construction and/or engineering field with increasing responsibility.
  • Experience in large Infrastructure projects, (preferably Transit / Rail) with budgets exceeding $1 billion in budget.
  • Proficient in Primavera (P6) scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing and effectively use company-standard project controls systems and industry-standard planning/scheduling systems.
  • Be proficient with spreadsheets, word processing software, databases, and presentation tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related technical field.
  • Ability to understand contracts and interpret from scheduling/project controls perspective.
  • Solid knowledge and experience with forensic schedule analysis.
  • Solid knowledge and experience with earned value analysis/management.
  • Knowledge and experience in application of the project controls principles to planning/scheduling work processes.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of various procurement models including Public Private Partnership (P3), Alternative Finance Procurement and Alliance.


You’ll also need:
  • Active membership in AACE, PMI, or similar association.
  • Experience as project manager is a plus.
  • PSP or PMI-SP certification a plus.
  • Strong sense of taking initiative and ownership in her/his work.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working atmosphere. Motivate peers and junior staff.
  • Actively participate in the ongoing development and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
