Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for developing and implementing strategies to achieve positive regulatory and public policy outcomes to support Manulife\xe2\x80\x99s Canadian wealth and asset management business
  • Coordinate the identification and analysis of changes and challenges in our operating environment and prepare, consolidate, and deliver reports and updates
  • Research and prepare submissions, presentations, letters and reports on a variety of topics such as ESG, digital ID, open banking and capital markets
  • Represent the company in external meetings and events including giving presentations.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop consensus, solve problems and achieve mutually positive outcomes.

How will you create impact?

Reporting to both the Vice-President, Canadian Regulatory and Public Affairs and to the Head of Strategy, Canadian Wealth and Asset Management, the Manager will work closely with leadership across Manulife\xe2\x80\x99s Canadian wealth and asset management team to identify, analyze and coordinate strategic response to emerging trends in technology, regulation, and customer expectations. The Manager will work to coordinate Manulife\xe2\x80\x99s involvement in discussions with stakeholders across the Canadian wealth management industry and actively engage to improve the regulatory and public policy environment that enables Manulife to provide millions of Canadians with pension, investment and retirement savings solutions.

What we are looking for
  • At least three years of relevant experience working in business or government.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with hard deadlines and competing, high-profile priorities.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian financial services and wealth manage management industries, business trends and emerging regulatory issues is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, editing skills and the ability to communicate complex issues into plain language.
  • Strong team focus. Ability to work closely and cooperatively with teammates. A positive, professional and collaborative personality, a thirst to learn and a passion for improvement.
  • Relationship building and maintaining professional interactions with internal clients, senior management, and external parties.
  • A degree or designation in law, economics, business or public policy will be a strong asset.

Salary & Benefits The annual base salary for this role in the primary location of CAN, Ontario, Toronto, 200 Bloor Street East is expected to be between $82,500.00 CAD - $148,500.00 CAD. If you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
