Lead, RAI - Long-Term Care


Hourly Rate : 36.69-39.62 (Commensurate with Experience)

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of Long-Term Care (COO-LTC), the Lead, RAI plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and ethical optimization of RAI assessments. This role combines technical expertise, analytical skills, and leadership to guide RAI Coordinators, LTC Administrators, and interdisciplinary teams in maintaining compliance, maximizing funding outcomes, and supporting excellence in resident care.

The Lead will establish corporate standards for RAI documentation, provide education and coaching, and build capacity across teams to ensure consistency and quality. By monitoring Case Mix Index (CMI) trends, analyzing data, and identifying risks, the Lead will support informed decision-making and continuous improvement in long-term care operations.

Key Responsibilities



Provide leadership in the implementation, optimization, and oversight of the InterRAI program across all SJHC LTC homes. Develop and maintain corporate standards for RAI coding, documentation, and reporting. Monitor and analyze Case Mix Index (CMI) trends, providing recommendations for ethical optimization of funding. Design and deliver corporate education programs for RAI Coordinators and support the development of RAI Coders. Facilitate a community of practice to promote knowledge sharing, consistency, and continuous improvement. Support Administrators with actionable insights from CIHI indicators, KPIs, and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with provincial legislation, accreditation requirements, and CIHI reporting standards. Provide coaching, technical support, and capacity-building to enhance staff competency in RAI processes. Collaborate with LTC leadership to align RAI practices with organizational goals and operational priorities.

Qualifications & Competencies



Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario; Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) required. RAI/MDS training and certification required; strong knowledge of RAI/MDS systems. 3-4 years of experience in geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing. Solid understanding of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and related regulations. Proven leadership, teaching, and coaching skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quality improvement abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools. Flexibility to travel between LTC operational sites.
