About Potash

BHP\xe2\x80\x99s Jansen Potash Project, located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP\xe2\x80\x99s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP\xe2\x80\x99s global portfolio. Jansen\xe2\x80\x99s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.


Purpose



The Lead Hoisting Shaft & Pillar Provides critical leadership to a team focused on the management and delivery of maintenance execution activities including maintaining plant, equipment, processes and infrastructure.

About the Role



In this role, you will:
  • Ensure safe and quality work execution of trades and contractors
  • Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP\'s risk management framework and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes
  • Hold accountability for safe quality maintenance of the hoists, shafts, shaft pillar equipment and mobile equipment maintenance
  • Drive business improvement through the measurement of BHP\'s performance and use of Lean Performance Improvement processes, systems, and tools
  • Plan, execute and review maintenance work orders and activities to maximize efficient production across the organization
  • Prepare for and execute maintenance activities, carry out post execution tasks and eliminate defect to facilitate reliable and efficient maintenance operations across BHP
  • Control contamination across the organization through structured and disciplined handling, storage and disposal of consumables and contaminants
  • Define shutdown objectives, scope and schedules, mobile shutdown resources, and execute shutdown activities to safeguard production and maintain the safety of maintenance operations
  • Translate corporate objectives into actionable plans, communicating, managing, and analyzing the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategy


Work Location



This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK with a rotational work schedule of 7 days on, followed by 7 days off.

About You



  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Saskatchewan Journeyperson Trade Certificate (Mechanical) with Red Seal Accreditation
  • Certification as a direct supervisor through the Mines Regulations is highly advantageous, or sufficient experience to challenge the direct supervisor\xe2\x80\x99s examination
  • Exceptional supervisory capabilities with the ability to lead and influence a focused, engaged and high-performing team
  • Proven operational experience in the mining industry is considered an asset
  • Highly capable of safely and confidently executing high quality work on critical equipment
  • Demonstrates a high attention to detail, remaining well-organized at all times
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment, with an acute attention to detail, and the ability to think critically and respond to changing priorities across multiple levels of the organization
  • Creates an open and safe environment for team members to collaborate, share feedback, escalate concerns and learn from one another
