As the Lead Hand Quality Controller, you will provide inspection, quality assurance assessment, and review of contracted maintenance for multiple contracts for Calgary Transit. Primary duties include:

  • Collect, review quality assurance and provisions under Calgary Transit contracted services to ensure contractor obligations and commitments are fully met. Specifically janitorial, landscaping, and snow removal contracts.
  • Provide verbal and written reports to the Contract Management and Accountability Leader and team, consultants, and contractors.
  • Originate and compile contract specifications and tender documents for a variety of activities. Ensure contract work is completed according to schedule, design, and applicable specifications and drawings.
  • Conduct the quality control of contractor employees with facilitating contractor ID cards, security clearances, and orientations.
  • Facilitate supply inventory and work closely with contractors and other Calgary Transit groups to initiate repairs and maintenance. Includes facilitating recovery of some lost and stolen property found on Calgary Transit property and coordination with Calgary Police Services.
  • Minimize public inconvenience while enforcing all environmental regulations, bylaws, notifications, and deficiencies, as required.
  • Investigate incident reporting, implementing, and monitoring changes to eliminate such events.
  • Innovative thinking to plan and execute a system to track and monitor various deliverables of contracts.
  • Investigate and respond to Council requests, and public inquiries received through 3-1-1\xe2\x80\x99s Customer Service Request (CSR) system, email, or telephone.
  • Attend project/contract start-up and progress meetings to coordinate services and resolve issues regarding contract deliverables. Review work order requests.
  • Maintain constant contact and liaison with clients during the contract and construction projects to resolve issues as required.





Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) with at least 5 years of related experience in a supervisorial janitorial position.
  • Previous experience in providing estimates, technical reporting writing, and supervisory and inspection of janitorial work is required.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Previous experience with The City of Calgary procurement process will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to obtain a City of Calgary Operator\'s Permit and rules training for LRV right-of-way access.
  • Effective communications skills with demonstrated technical and analytical skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, an aptitude for reacting quickly to changing priorities will set you apart for success in this role.
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to multitask and take initiative, relay technical information in a clear manner, convey issues accurately and investigate complaints thoroughly is required for success in this position.

Working Conditions: Field work is conducted at numerous locations, in various weather conditions, and does include cleaning of biohazards.

Compensation: $32.67 - 36.61 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 2 week cycle.




Hours of work: Non-Standard 40 hour work week
