Position summary:


We are looking for a Lead Hand to join our Paint Department. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual who wants to learn and grow in a leadership capacity within the manufacturing sector. Reporting to the Senior Production Supervisor. Working within a small team, the right candidate will be passionate about delivering high-quality work, with a "roll up your sleeves" kind of attitude. This position requires strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and detail-oriented skills and someone who is well-versed in windows production, casement lines, and production environments. The successful candidate will be disciplined, punctual, and a strong team player dedicated to generating to an engaged and safe work environment.

Key responsibilities:



Assist the senior production supervisor in overseeing daily operations of the paint department, ensuring smooth and efficient production runs, meeting daily and weekly production targets. Write all procedures on the whole process on how to paint profiles, box, door slabs and stain slabs. Organize process from the cleaning of the parts to the mixing of the paint to the curing time. Do a time study to see the time required to paint a profile, a box or a slab with the information from the time study learn how to schedule manpower. Manage the quality of the paint for every type of part, profiles, steel slabs and stain slabs. Maintain a logbook to track daily, weekly, and monthly studies, including observations, completed tasks, and pending tasks. Review production schedules to determine workload, manpower allocation, and material flow. Completes reports and associated documentation to review with management. Analyzes current and established procedures and partners with the senior production supervisor and the director of operations to implement cost-effective process improvements to promote productivity and department efficiencies. Responsible for the hazardous waste management of the paint department including the proper disposal of all hazardous materials generated in the paint department. Providing guidance to the team members (painters) and training as needed in collaboration with the senior production supervisor Handles escalations in a timely manner utilizing conflict resolution to define long-term positive solutions. Enforce health and safety policies, monitor PPE usage, and promote a safe working environment. Audits quality of output by identifying infractions, training employees, enforcing established standards, and designing long-term action plans. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the department's operations.

Education and Skills:



High school diploma (minimum); preferred associate's degree or certification in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or Paint Technology; OSHA or health & safety training. Preferred experience in paint mixing, application, curing, and quality control processes; ability to conduct time studies, develop production schedules, and optimize manpower/resource allocation. Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective actions to meet quality standards. Leadership skills to manage and mentor paint department staff; enforce safety policies, ensure proper PPE usage, and oversee hazardous waste disposal in compliance with regulations. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and databases; excellent communication, time management, and multitasking abilities; familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S principles. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
