Job Summary


Working under the direction of the Logistics Supervisor, the Shipping and Receiving Lead Hand is responsible for directly supporting the Shipping and Receiving teams and working on collaboration with the Packaging and Distribution Departments. Core responsibilities include creating customer skid tags, leading and managing the shipping and receiving staff and related functions, and prioritizing order completion to align with departmental goals. Responsible for ensuring proper customer orders are assembled and are in good shipping condition. Ensures the accurate and seamless receipt and quality inspection of products, packaging materials and the timely processing of all incoming shipments.

Responsibilities



Observes and reports general conduct issues of all non-management packaging room Associates and reports issues immediately Effectively plans, coordinates and organizes the storage and packaging of product in the packaging department and cooler Completes pre-operational checks of lines and calibrates scales daily every morning Ensures cooler, packaging and inventory personnel fulfil their responsibilities for workplace hygiene and organization, inventory stock counts, rotation of inventory and the movement of inventory Communicates harvesting SKU priorities with packaging line workflow planning to ensure production line efficiencies are met while also meeting customer delivery requirements Supervises the general conduct of associates Ensures the smooth operation of all packaging operations including slice operations, packaging line operations, box making, and sanitation activities SAP/ ERP System understanding and knowledge and ability to train others Assists the Packaging Supervisor and Manager with their duties Ensures and that lines are full of product and properly staffed Ensures that mushrooms are packaged properly and efficiently per customer requirements Ensures proper clean up at the end of the day and enforces good housekeeping throughout the day m. Deals with equipment issues as they arise and contacts Maintenance as required and communicates with the Supervisor n. Trains new associates in their job duties Verify all paperwork is completed and meet QA policies, SOP's, and procedures. Performs any other duties that may be assigned as required Plans, delegates, motivates and leads Shipping and Receiving teams daily to improve performance, while ensuring work is done efficiently, correctly and to quality standards Enforces corporate policies regarding security, health and food safety, proper SOP's, and carrying out activities related to promoting and maintaining a safe work environment Assists in all areas of Shipping & Receiving, including assisting in organizing loads for shipment, and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and in good working order Coordinates with Production and Logistics teams to ensure on-time (or early) departures Serves as first point of contact for shipping and receiving teams Provides feedback, conducting performance reviews and if necessary, applying progressive discipline processes for non-compliances in a respectful manner Prepares customer skid signage Prioritizes order completions as per department goals Ensures all customer orders are assembled as per daily shipping sheets Coordinates with the Packaging team to determine the status of finished good orders Plans and directs the activities of the Shipping and Receiving teams to align with department goals Accurately completes essential documentation related to shipping & order assembly Excellence in Execution - drives near-term results and performance Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy work environment and provides a high level of safety aware-ness among the warehouse and distribution teams Assists in the development of associate communications and ensures policies and programs are executed Actively engages in utilizing company best practices to increase efficiencies. Operates the box machine to assemble cardboard boxes, as per customer requirements. Reworks boxes as required. Manually assembles box lids. Operates hand jack, power jack and forklift as required. Maintains and monitors corrugated cardboard inventory. Able to perform all machine change overs depending on box size requirements. Performs low-level maintenance of the Box Machine equipment. Maintains a clean and organized workspace. May provide support to Shipper/Receiver Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications



Knowledge of ERP systems. Must be able to drive Forklift Experience in MS Office is an asset Eligible to work in Canada Must be at least 16 years of age
