Job Description

Taiga Building Products is offering a full-time, permanent opportunity for a Lead Hand at our Envirofor, Alberta branch. This position is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient handling of building materials, including lumber and related products. The Lead Hand will manage a team of yard workers, ensure inventory control, and maintain safety and organization in the yard. The role is hands-on and requires an individual who can lead by example, maintain high operational standards, and ensure excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



Safety-focused with knowledge of lumber and building material handling Proactive with a "Can Do" attitude and strong problem-solving abilities Customer-oriented team player, ensuring smooth yard operations Familiar with WMS and RF scanners for inventory control Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Experience in lumber handling, storage, and transportation Able to lift 50 lbs and operate forklifts (certification preferred) Excellent communication skills for team management and cross-department collaboration Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions Proven track record of safety compliance and maintaining a clean yard Strong leadership abilities with a focus on safety and performance Detail-oriented for accurate order fulfillment and inventory management Occasional overtime required Certified forklift experience required

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Oversee yard organization and efficient storage of lumber Manage inventory, ensuring accurate stock and timely replenishment Supervise safe unloading, loading, and handling of materials Maintain safety protocols and train yard staff Assist with delivery scheduling for timely order fulfillment Lead and train staff, ensuring a safety-conscious work environment Ensure yard cleanliness and industry compliance Collaborate with sales and logistics teams for order processing Address operational issues and report to management

Pay: $29.00-$31.00 per hour
