The GigReporting to the Creative Director, the Lead Designer oversees design for both print and digital fundraising campaigns. They provide technical advice, training and guidance to our Designer and to our Strategy team. The Lead Designer reviews final layouts of other designers to evaluate manufacturing feasibility, ensuring an overall consistency and quality across all projects, and suggest improvements when necessary.

Compensation\xe2\x80\xa2 $50,000 to $58,000 based on 32 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities: \xe2\x80\xa2 Create web and print creative assets for our clients and Frontier.

  • Translate sketches/style boards into finished projects.
  • Apply UI / UX design best practices for digital projects.
  • Create icons, brand mark concepts, and other marketing materials.
  • Create style boards, mockups, wireframes and high fidelity prototypes for client campaigns and projects.
  • Research & development of best practices for fundraising design & design technology.
  • Support strategists with design questions, strategy, evaluating manufacturing feasibility and represent the design department in client meetings.
  • Represent the design department in Creative Leadership Team meetings and initiatives.
  • Lead the design team in creating/refining design processes.
  • Manage and oversee design contractors.
  • Oversee/direct and review the creation of production items and style boards by the design team.
  • Assess and vet new design hires in collaboration with the Creative Director.
  • Set goals and conduct performance reviews for the design team in collaboration with the Creative Director.
  • Lead design innovation initiatives and suggest improvements when necessary.
Must Haves: \xe2\x80\xa2 2-3 years of freelance or agency design experience.
  • Equally comfortable working with print and digital.
  • Professional working knowledge of Figma, Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Working knowledge of setting up and packaging print-ready files.
  • Ability to work with sensitive timelines, understanding you have a team to support you.
  • Excellent and timely communication.
  • Must have your own desktop/laptop and stable internet connection.
  • Must be Canadian or have authorization to work in Canada and be Canadian based.
Nice to Haves: \xe2\x80\xa2 Post-secondary education or relevant experience.
  • Experience working for or volunteering with a charity or nonprofit.
  • Experience in the marketing, fundraising, or agency sectors.
  • Understanding of online tools like Slack (http://slack.com/), Google Apps (https://gsuite.google.com/), etc.
  • Have done design work with non-profit organizations
  • Experience leading a small team.
