We believe food is at the heart of care, and we are seeking a dedicated Lead Cook to join our team.
Position Summary
The Lead Cook is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring meals are prepared to the highest standard while maintaining a safe, sanitary, and organized environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership, adaptability, and a genuine heart for working with the elderly.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of daily kitchen operations.
Prepare and serve meals according to the established 5-week menu rotation.
Maintain appropriate stock levels, order food and supplies, and foster professional relationships with vendors and delivery personnel.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Balance and record small petty cash expenditures related to meal purchases by staff and visitors.
Ensure continuity of meal service by addressing occasional supply variances in a timely and effective manner.
Maintain a clean and sanitary cooking area and stock room at all times.
Providing supervision, guidance and support to other kitchen staff, working both independently and as part of a team.
Be receptive to feedback and align with the vision and expectations set forth by management.
Qualifications & Skills
Two-three years of experience as a Lead Cook, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting.
Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Punctuality and consistent attendance are essential.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and healthcare dietary regulations.
Willingness to continue professional development in a healthcare setting.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Must have a clean criminal record.
Compassionate and caring nature, with a genuine heart for the elderly.
Schedule
12-hour shifts, rotating with another cook.
Flexibility required to ensure consistent kitchen coverage.
