Description:Actalent\'s client in Surrey is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer to join their team. The Lead Civil Engineer will provide accurate civil designs and will have an opportunity to lead a small team of civil engineers and designers to ensure projects are executed in an efficient, cost effective, and timely manner. They will have a strong desire to complete projects as accurately and as efficiently as possible.Engineering Responsibilities:\xc2\xb7 Provide detailed production of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for site development including grading, earthworks, drainages, roadway, fencing, erosion, and sediment control and retaining walls\xc2\xb7 Work from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans, and project informational requirements, using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed\xc2\xb7 Provide sketches to drafting staff to produce finished drawings.\xc2\xb7 Review and check design drawings for accuracy.\xc2\xb7 Prepare design reports, letters, and technical memorandums\xc2\xb7 Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achievedLead Responsibilities:\xc2\xb7 Provide recommendations to improve design efficiencies where possible.\xc2\xb7 Forecast labor resources and provide schedule input.\xc2\xb7 Monitor engineering and drafting progress and provide input to progress reports.\xc2\xb7 Review and prepare project documents such as specifications and contract documents while always ensuring technical accuracy.\xc2\xb7 Coordinate tasks and work schedules to achieve the project objectives.\xc2\xb7 Resolves difficult client and engineering problems by modifying guidelines, developing new approaches, or applying existing procedures\xc2\xb7 Liaises with different disciplines to resolve design problems, discuss project criteria, and facilitate smooth project coordination.\xc2\xb7 Follow company standards and EGBC guidelines for design and checking.\xc2\xb7 Mentor junior engineers.\xc2\xb7 Will be responsible for approving and stamping engineering drawings.\xc2\xb7 May participate in recruitment activities and provide guidance with employee relation matters.MUST HAVE:\xc2\xb7 Post-secondary education with a degree in Civil Engineering\xc2\xb7 Interest in the design of green energy industrial facilities\xc2\xb7 Registered or eligible to register as a P. Eng with EGBC\xc2\xb7 10+ years of experience in a similar role\xc2\xb7 Ability to use judgment in pressure situations to solve problems based on engineering guidelines and procedures\xc2\xb7 Ability to work with limited supervision, but open-minded with the ability to follow instructions.\xc2\xb7 Proficiency in the application of specialized design software such Civil 3D, PCSWMM, AutoTURN, or equivalent\xc2\xb7 Strong leadership capabilities with the ability and desire to supervise a small group of professionals\xc2\xb7 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism\xc2\xb7 Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.\xc2\xb7 Strong understanding and application of engineering codes and standards\xc2\xb7 Experience Engineering Industrial projects such as mining, forestry, natural gas, pipeline, or LNG would be considered an asset, but we are willing to train as required.NICE TO HAVE:\xc2\xb7 Registration in the US as a PE would be considered an asset\xc2\xb7 Experience on stormwater modelling, flood hazard assessment, retaining wall design, slope stability assessments, or traffic impact study would be an asset\xc2\xb7 Previous field or site experience would be an assetWORK ENVIRONMENTShift?
