Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Carpentry, woodworking, tools and shop fabrication and finishing techniques, demonstrating proficiency in both leadership and hands-on skilled tasks. This role requires a commitment to quality work, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively to keep projects on schedule.

Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate fabrication projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings to guide project execution Manage material inventory applying a strong knowledge of lumber grading and grain structure in order to fulfil the production needs. Lead a team of carpenters/ finishers in a production style wood shop Utilize hand tools, power tools, and wood shop machinery safely and effectively Record labour time and material cost for all projects Manage tool and machinery maintenance and shop protocols Provide Client Services, in shop consultations. Train and mentor junior staff in various production techniques and best practices

Experience

Candidates should have a robust background in construction and Woodworking with experience in the following areas:

Blueprint reading and schematic interpretation Wood Grading and Grain structure Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, woodworking machinery, and woodworking techniques Strong understanding of construction estimating processes Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by project demands Strong understadning of finishing techniques and stain mixing
