About Potash
The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan's history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.
Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. To find out more about Potash and the Jansen project, .

Purpose
The Lead, Applications & IT Systems is accountable for the end-to-end performance, stability, and lifecycle of Potash's business applications. This role provides strategic direction, technical leadership, and operational oversight to ensure applications are reliable, secure, cost-effective, and continuously improved in alignment with BHP's technology strategy and operational needs.
About the Role
In this role, you will:

• Lead end-to-end application management, including support (L1-L3), stability, performance, incident/problem/change management.
• Ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing systems through proactive monitoring, risk mitigation, and governance.
• Own the full lifecycle of mining applications-strategy, design, build, operations, optimisation, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, consolidate, and modernise applications to enhance performance, reduce cost, and improve user experience.
• Set strategic direction for the application portfolio, ensuring alignment with business plans and enterprise architecture.
• Lead cross-functional technical issue resolution to minimise operational impact.
• Manage vendor partnerships, ensuring SLA compliance, performance quality, and value for money.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, driving capability uplift and accountability.
• Establish and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and performance targets, proactively addressing gaps and risks.

Work Location
Downtown, Saskatoon office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP. This position will require regular travel to the Jansen Mine Site.
The roster schedule may be adjusted based on business requirements or as operations progress.
About You
Required:

• Tertiary qualifications in Technology, Business Systems, Engineering or Trade equivalent.
• Experience with IT management software (e.g. ServiceNow)

Functional Experience:

• Deep experience leading application support and application management functions in a complex, operationally-critical environment.
• Strong understanding of ITIL-aligned service delivery, including incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
• Experience managing full application lifecycles, including upgrades, integrations, testing cycles, and end-of-life transitions.
• Ability to assess technical debt, system risk, architecture alignment, and opportunities for simplification.
• Proficiency with service management tools such as ServiceNow, monitoring technologies, and operational analytics.

People & Leadership:

• Ability to effectively lead the team, provide direction, delegate tasks and
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and negotiate outcomes in a highly matrixed organisation.
• Skilled at translating technical concepts into actionable business insights, enabling informed decision-making.
• Proven success working with operational leaders in a high-stakes, time-sensitive environment.

Recommended:

• Strong experience with vendor and contract management practices & processes.
