2. Major Duties and Responsibilities:



Training & Development - 35%



Designs and delivers training programs beyond orientation, including technical, leadership, and performance-based learning initiatives. Develops learning materials such as job aids, quick reference guides, manuals, and learning content. Builds assessment tools, evaluation frameworks, and ROI measures to monitor training effectiveness. Partners with subject matter experts to design and deliver trade-specific training and upgrade programs. Implements mentoring and coaching programs to strengthen supervisory capabilities.

Field & Performance Support - 30%



Conducts site audits to evaluate performance, adherence to training, and efficiency practices. Provides on-site mentoring and guidance to installers, apprentices, and supervisors. Leads awareness campaigns to reinforce labor efficiency, safety, and productivity. Tracks performance improvements tied to Labor Efficiency Ratio (LER) and reports findings. Supports supervisors in career development planning, upgrades, and promotional pathways.

HR & Onboarding Support - 20%



Assists with new hire orientation sessions and onboarding programs. Provides backup support for HR generalist activities when required. Maintains accurate training records, progress dashboards, and attendance data. Assists with compliance, engagement, and employee relations initiatives as part of the HR team.

Health & Safety - 10%



Ensures all training programs integrate applicable workplace safety regulations and compliance standards. Audits project sites for adherence to safety practices and PPE requirements. Promotes a culture of safety in all development and training programs.

Administrative & Other Duties - 5%



Manages relationships with training vendors and external facilitators. Attends internal meetings, supports corporate initiatives, and contributes to reporting. Completes other duties as assigned by the Director of HR.

3. Required Competencies



Technical Expertise - Strong knowledge of drywall, taping, framing, ceilings, or related construction trades. Learning Design - Ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate training programs and materials. Coaching & Mentoring - Provides hands-on guidance and feedback to improve performance. Organizational Skills - Manages multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. Communication - Adapts communication for employees, supervisors, and managers. Problem Solving - Identifies gaps in performance and implements practical solutions. Analytical Skills - Tracks performance data and links learning outcomes to business results. Team Collaboration - Works closely with HR, supervisors, and site managers to drive results.

4. Decision-Making



The L&D Coordinator works within established HR and operational frameworks and makes day-to-day decisions regarding training delivery, site mentoring, and development content independently. Strategic direction and resource allocation decisions are made in consultation with the Director - Human Resources.

5. Safety Requirements



The L&D Coordinator frequently visits construction project sites and is required to follow all safe work practices, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with site safety regulations.

6. Physical Demands and Working Conditions



Work is performed across office, training, and field environments. The incumbent may be exposed to construction site conditions, including weather elements, dust, and noise, during site visits and training activities.

7. Staff Development and Leadership



The L&D Coordinator ensures employees and supervisors receive clear direction, effective coaching, and structured learning to meet business requirements. This role contributes to career progression, succession planning, and the development of a skilled and efficient workforce.

Education and Expertise Required:



Minimum 3 years of combined experience in Human Resources and the construction industry (drywall, taping, ceilings, framing), with proven ability to design and deliver development programs, monitor progress, and audit on-site performance. Red Seal Certification (preferred) or equivalent technical trade certification in construction. Proven experience in facilitation, mentoring, and performance auditing. Skilled in designing and delivering construction-specific, hands-on learning interventions. Strong track record of leading, coaching, and mentoring managers, as well as overseeing employee training initiatives. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to create professional reports, training materials, and progress tracking tools.
