We are currently seeking a Litigation Law Clerk to join the Litigation practice group in either our Ottawa or Toronto office, as a new addition to our team (as opposed to filling a vacancy). Our global litigation and disputes lawyers advise many of the world's largest corporations and financial institutions on complex, high-value and sensitive multijurisdictional disputes. With more than 50 offices across the globe, we have one of the largest disputes legal practices in the world, with significant experience resolving domestic and cross-border mandates, international arbitrations and investigations and enforcement for clients across all the key industry sectors including financial institutions; energy, infrastructure and resources; transport; technology; life sciences and healthcare; and consumer markets.

The ideal candidate will possess:
A Law Clerk Diploma/Certificate or the equivalent in experience;
Experience as a Litigation Law Clerk, particularly with respect to e-discovery principles and software, including acting as liaison between third party vendors and counsel and administration of large document collections;
Excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a team environment;
Excellent writing skills, organizational skills, and an attention to detail;
Strong knowledge of typical office computer applications, including document management software, or a willingness to learn; and
General familiarity with Superior Court rules and filing protocols.
The principal responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:
Assisting lawyers with litigation files in the Toronto and Ottawa offices;
Organizing files and documents;
Working with e-discovery software and assisting in the collection and production of documents for litigation purposes;
Interacting with clients and lawyers in the firm to obtain information and report verbally and in writing on the status of files;
Summarizing transcripts of discovery and cross-examinations and lists refusals and undertakings;
Assembling answers to undertakings;
Drafting routine motions, pleadings and correspondence;
Preparing bills of costs;
Preparing charts, chronologies and summaries of documents for use at discovery and trial;
Assisting professionals/staff from Norton Rose Fulbright's other offices to obtain documentation from courts;
Assisting with the billing and administrative reporting requirements for certain clients; and
Other administrative duties, as required.
The salary for this position will be determined having regard to the level of experience and skillset of the successful candidate as well as the local market; however, we anticipate the relevant range to be $90,000 to $100,000 (Ottawa) or $120,000 to $140,000 (Toronto).
