Your Opportunity:Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dependable, highly organized individual for the position of Laundry Worker II. This Casual position is located at the Alberta Hospital Edmonton. Reporting to the Manager of Linen and Environmental Services, this position performs a variety of tasks associate with the preparation, washing and distribution of linen and garments following approved work practices. Duties include, but are not limited to, collecting, sorting, clarifying and weighing soiled linen and apparel, loading, unloading, and operating washing equipment, folding sorting and stacking linen and garments, loading and operating other equipment as necessary (i.e. irons, pressers etc.), loading and transferring linen carts, maintaining department records as required, making recommendations on required laundry supplies and cleaning floors, walls and windows in the laundry area is necessary. Physical requirements of the position include heavy lifting, reaching, bending, pushing carts and standing for long periods of time.Description:As a Laundry II, you will be responsible for transporting, preparing and washing soiled linen and distributing of clean linen and apparel. Your typical duties may include sorting and weighing soiled linen; loading, unloading and operating washing and drying equipment; preparing surgical textile packs; monitoring and adjusting workflow and volume to maximize equipment utilization and ensuring equipment is working properly.

Required Qualifications:Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift up to 20kg, walk and/or stand for the duration of your shift, and perform repetitive physical movements. Additional Required Qualifications:A High School Diploma, or equivalent, is required. (Internal applicants without a High School Diploma will be considered). General knowledge of Laundry cleaning techniques and methods is required. Basic knowledge of computer programs, such as email, is required. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and follow written and oral directions in English. Must have good interpersonal skills, be dependable, thorough and be able to work with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications:A combination of education, training and relevant experience may be considered. Preference will be given to internal AHS applicants.
