The Landscaping Division of Kate's Garden is hiring an experienced Team Leader, to join our Gardening Services Team. The position is full-time and permanent positions are available. Based out of Main Street Markham, and servicing predominantly York Region for over 25 years, Kate's Garden is known for: excellent garden care, renovating existing gardens, installing beautiful new gardens, hardscaping, garden carpentry and creating bespoke seasonal Containers. Our Landscaping Division is integral to our Botanical Boutique, Garden Centre, Floristry and Workshop business.

We are seeking an experienced Softscape/Container Gardening Team Leader looking for a career in horticulture. This position has a predominant focus in Planting, Container Gardening and Garden Installation/Renovation. Experience with power tools, both gas and electric, and landscape construction machinery is essential. Reading blueprints/drawings, interpreting field markings and understanding procurement requirements is necessary. Open, honest communication and the ability to train, empower, motivate, and guide your team and others is key. It is your responsibility to lead your team to complete projects on-time and on budget and is critical to the role.

At Kate's Garden the softscape team creates and renovates garden beds and borders from start to finish. The softscape team works in coordination with the design staff and other installation/maintenance crews therefore experience integrating horticultural materials, plants, sodding, and trees is a must.

Our landscape teams typically work 40 to 44 hours a week with days beginning at 8am. Occasional Saturday work should be expected in high season. Our Team Leaders guide and direct their team to complete tasks from maintenance of residential and commercial properties to the installation of softscape elements.

We DO NOT Cut Grass or Plow Snow.

Our Lay off period is ten weeks from late December to early March.

Applicant Qualifications

Considerable experience and/or certification in Related skilled trade, college or university diploma.

3 years experience in leadership roles within the horticultural trade.

Valid G License with a clean abstract and reliable transportation.

Problem solving/ time management/ communication skills.

Able to perform physically demanding tasks.

Detail oriented with an ability to see tasks through to completion.

Proactive and reliable.
