Salary: $15.50/hour Work remotely: No Position 1 - Start Date: May 1, 2023 End Date: August 18, 2023 Position 2 -Start Date May 1, 2023 End Date : June 23, 2023 Deadline: Open until filled Yog Fellowship Temple \xe2\x80\x93 Centre for Kriyayoga Meditation (YFT) is a non-profit centre established in 1983 where members of the public attend to learn and practice Kriyayoga Meditation, a non-sectarian, practical, scientific technique of worship that everyone can practice regardless of age, gender, religion, or physical condition. YFT is beautifully situated on a scenic, country property in Kitchener and radiates a spiritual ambience immediately experienced by all who enter the premises. The meditation hall is known for its unique architecture, consisting of a geodesic dome beneath a pyramid enclosure that provides an ideal environment conducive for Kriyayoga programs and retreats. Main Duties & Responsibilities: For the outdoor meditation areas and facility gardens (approximately six acres) and within the principles of biodiversity and respect for all living things that is at the core of Kriyayoga Meditation (guidance and training will be provided): \xc2\xb7 Assist with maintenance of walking paths, naturalized grass areas, flower beds, vegetable beds \xc2\xb7 Assist with tree and bush care including pruning, weeding, fertilizing, as necessary \xc2\xb7 Research and recommend native plant selections \xc2\xb7 Preventive management and natural control of non-beneficial plants and insects \xc2\xb7 Fertilization and compost management \xc2\xb7 Harvest fruit, vegetables, berries \xc2\xb7 Watering plants, trees and bushes as needed Assist with other facility maintenance and cleaning work as needed. Qualifications: Canada Summer Job Grant Criteria: \xc2\xb7 Must be between the ages of 15-30 (inclusive) \xc2\xb7 Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act \xc2\xb7 Must be legally entitled to work according to all relevant Ontario legislation and regulations Candidate one or more of the followig criteria: Youth who have not previously been employed and for whom this would be their first job experience. Indigenous, newcomer/refugees, disabled, visible minorities/racialized however, ALL qualified youth are encouraged to apply.
