DLE Landscape Contractors is in search of a veteran of the landscape industry to be our next Landscape Designer / Sales Lead. You will require a varied background of landscape experience and knowledge as well as sales experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic learner who is a reliable team member, passionate about serving clients, has a valid driver's license, and is great at communication.

Sales Lead position



Purpose:

The Landscape Designer / Sales Lead position is responsible for preparing accurate, highly creative landscape design solutions to suit a variety of site conditions and client preferences. The primary focus is on designing uniquely desirable living spaces, diverse in style, within a rugged, naturalized environment. This individual will also have a strong focus on the closing of profitable sales opportunities in a timely fashion, while providing the ultimate client experience through a relationship of trust and communication.

Landscape Designer / Sales Lead

Responsibility:



Effectively uncover client needs and provide compelling solutions. Thoroughly perform site inventories. Efficiently create uniquely desirable, artistic and inspirational landscape designs. Accurately prepare construction drawings and takeoffs. Demonstrate and maintain a high knowledge of landscape trends, features and techniques. Sell profitable design/build proposals that meet or exceed sales goals Grow client base with a focus on relationships exceeding expectations. Verify and inspect the work being conducted by the Landscape Construction teams each day. Correct deficiencies, document progress, and ensure tasks are completed in a safe and efficient manner Coordinate, plan, maintain and modify daily / weekly job schedules and requirements with Landscape Construction crews. Allocating work orders to Landscape Construction crews.

Success in this position will be measured by:



Internal Performance Reviews -- for design creativity, quality and accuracy. Company CRM (LMN Landscape Management Network) for days spent in progress for design efficiency. Client Reviews -- for delivering on brand promises, expectations, and ability to problem solve. Job Cost Report -- for the consistent delivery of buildable projects with complete and accurate cost and labour information.

Detail Overview of Responsibilities:



Effectively uncover client needs and provide compelling solutions:



Maintain effective use of design questionnaire Meet with clients to understand objectives, needs, wants and wishes. Communicate with highly effective questions and problem-solving skills. Provide alternate solutions where required and be open to client preferences. Maintain the use of practical, buildable solutions. Periodically assist with the sale of final project

Thoroughly perform site inventories:



Visit site to measure existing buildings, features, grades and elevations, and other critical dimensions. Accurately identify all existing plant material. Utilize lot plans, surveys, and interactive online mapping resources to collect additional property information. Demonstrate strong understanding of building regulations, code and bylaws, Conservation Authority regulations and MNR restrictions. Prepare base plans with all relevant information.

Efficiently create uniquely desirable, artistic and inspirational landscape designs:



Demonstrate a natural ability to hand sketch conceptual plans and hand renderings Produce artistic, creative, and attractive designs with appropriate layout and flow. Consider highly value engineered solutions, practical in nature where required. Demonstrate strong time management and production efficiency throughout creative process. Confidently utilize all required technology and software to prepare final landscape drawings. Effectively produce 3d renderings of construction details by hand or computer, as required. Demonstrate a high level of diversity and flexibility in design style. Show a natural interest in connecting living spaces within a rugged environment, using a variety of materials, textures, features and layout styles.

Accurately prepare construction drawings and takeoffs:



Prepare compelling conceptual plans for budget, including alternate solutions. Prepare highly detailed and accurate final construction plans, including site details, base plans, grading and drainage features, additional overlays such as lighting, etc. Prepare full planting plans with appropriate plant specifications. Provide thorough quantity takeoffs for estimating Assist with full estimation of project utilizing LMN software.

Demonstrate and maintain a high knowledge of landscape trends, features, and techniques

:

Demonstrate a high working knowledge of horticulture, plant identification and specification. Demonstrate a strong understanding of all hard and softscape features found within the landscape, including but not limited to patios, retaining walls, pools and spas, water features, decks, pavilions, pergolas, plantings, lighting, etc. Demonstrate a strong understanding of current interior and exterior design trends. Visit trade conferences, interior and exterior design shows, and collect new resources o Participate in building relationships through networking, peer groups, trade associations, and conferences.

Meet Sales Goals:



Sell landscape projects and services at approved pricing, that meets or exceeds sales goals. Participate with sales goal setting and monitoring, and coordinate sales efforts with other team members to increase market share. Accurately document all leads and opportunities in company approved CRM system and aggressively pursue all proposals in progress. Maintain awareness of outstanding collections, and advises appropriate parties to make collection in timely fashion, or according to terms agreed Meet company required reporting submissions on all sales KPl's. Attend meetings with clients for the purposes of sales, customer relations / retention. Prepare Estimates and Quotes for varied landscape services for both new and existing clients. Assisting with sales and contract renewals for the Snow and Ice Maintenance Division and Landscape Maintenance division when needed.

Growing Client Base:



Follow-up on and help convert leads from new and existing customers into sales for all divisions. Prospects for new business, building relationships with property owners, developers, and other purchasers as required to maintain required leads to fill sales pipeline. Represent company at various events, association meetings, conferences, and shows, for the purposes of building client relationships and creating leads. Continuously manage all opportunities in pipeline in a timely manner, as per sales process. Provide a clear and detailed project handoff to divisional operations management. Communicate any customer conflict or complaint with appropriate parties, and work to resolve immediately and effectively.

A passion for the landscape industry and amazing customer service. Experience with crew scheduling and basic landscape design is a huge plus. Experience in the landscape / green industry. Knowledge on how to read landscape drawings. Knowledge of doing site analysis and taking site measurements. Great organizational skills and the ability to follow company process and procedure. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle a variety of tasks and duties daily (our days are never the same). Be able to work independently and make decisions. Must be detail oriented, proactive and must be comfortable leading a team (8 to 10) by example, willing to hold people accountable.

As our Landscape Designer / Sales Lead, you will enjoy the following benefits:



Starting pay ranges from $65,000 to $80,000 per year based on level of experience, education, experience and licensing or certifications. Sign-on bonus of $500 after 90 days with an additional $2,000 after one full year of employment. Education and Experience:



Landscape Design Diploma

or

Bachelor

's Degree in Landscape Architecture:

Required

Certified Landscape Designer (CLD)

Diploma:

Required

Five or more years of industry-related design experience. (5 years preferred)

2 years Required.

Exceptional portfolio of previous design:

Required

Experience in CAD drawing, Sketchup or Bluebeam an asset: (5 years preferred)

2 years Required.

CRM software management - Landscape Management Network (LMN); Must be capable of learning or have experience with Landscape Management Network (LMN) and other in-house computer systems:

Certified horticultural technician (CHT) Diploma of Landscape Horticulturist certification:

(preferred) but not required Management / Supervisory and Practical Experience in the Landscape Maintenance / Landscape Construction / Snow and Ice Maintenance industry: 2 years minimum (preferred) but not required. Post Secondary education in Business / Project Management is an asset but not required. 2+ years of experience in a management environment is (preferred) but not required Administrative experience setting is an asset: 2 years (preferred) but not required Office management experience: 2 years (preferred) but not required Able to complete a variety of computer-based paperwork and administration duties. Computer literate in Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office Suite as well as e-mail. Experience in the use of software programs such as SharePoint, dropbox, Zoom, Canva, mailchimp, survey software: 2 years (preferred) but not required First Aid/CPR training: Asset but not required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; including sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.

Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, people management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration. Supervisory experience/training an asset.
