Landscape Architecture Research Assistant - Community Development (Summer 2023) - ( 2300002X ) Description Overview: Through analysis, planning, and design, we create inspired landscapes that reflect local contexts, user needs and act inclusively. Whether designing, reviewing, or overseeing the construction of an urban park, a restored wetland, a town center, an athletic complex, a waterfront destination, or transportation facility enhancement, we make valuable contributions to the quality of life in our communities and the overall profession of Landscape Architecture. Collaboratively, we create opportunities from constraints, helping our clients achieve unique project outcomes through the development of creative goals which form the design, create systems for the organization of complex technical information, and illustrate opportunities for the use of space. From concept development through construction drawings and the implementation of creative solutions, we\xe2\x80\x99re the source and facilitator of creative ideas which achieve project goals while being economically viable and environmentally responsible. Join us for the summer! Your Opportunity Are you looking for an experience to add to your research, survey, database, and taxonomy skills? Do you want to gain experience alongside Professional Landscape Architects? Do you want to help grow our practice-based research projects? Come join of the largest global Landscape Architectural practices in their pursuit to further their ongoing research projects. Supported by our project Landscape Architects, you will be tasked with identifying future research opportunities, to conduct current data collection and monitoring of current studies, and to summarize data findings. Results, conclusions, and current project status\xe2\x80\x99 will be summarized and presented within the Stantec Landscape Architecture team meetings. Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience conducting background research (comparative case studies, literature reviews, project precedent examples, etc.)
  • Knowledge of qualitative, quantitative, and practice-based research strategies is desired.
  • Critical writing and reading skills, including the ability to summarize complex information into simple and concise components.
  • An ability to apply design thinking to complex problems.
  • Strong graphic, computer, and technical skills \xe2\x80\x93 including the ability to distill complex information into simple and easy to read diagrams.
  • Self-motivated and passionate about how design can positively impact global problems.
  • Strong time management, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Independent problem-solving skills and the confidence to know when to ask for help.
  • The ability to work with others, as well as independently.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Rhino, Sketch-up, and Adobe programs is not essential, but considered beneficial.
Qualifications Education and Experience Applicants should be a current student or recent graduate of an accredited Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s or Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree program in Landscape Architecture. Please include the following additional required application materials:
