Administer the Land Code, related policies and procedures to regulate the land use
Maintain an effective records management system
Prepare and deliver presentations to Council and meetings of members about activities and proposals as required
Communicate with members on an individual basis and at formal Band meetings
Communicate with Council about land issues, orient new Council members to Land Management Laws, policies and procedures
Handle member queries about land
Review Land Interest Agreements, Leases, Rights of Way and permits; notify interest holders of potential expiration or changes
Draft Land Band Council Resolutions
Respond to telephone and written inquiries and correspondence
Coordinate Lands Committee meetings as required
Provide interpretation and advice on Land Code, Policies and Procedures to Council, members and management
Oversee and manage lands assistant
Record and process Registrations of Interest
Maintain the On-line Lands Registry
Qualification Requirements
:
A minimum Grade 12 Education, post-secondary Education preferred.
Previous experience in a similar role would be an asset
Willing and able to obtain further qualifications as required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
A minimum of four years' experience in an office environment
Ability to work independently and in a team
Experience in records management
Detail and task orientated, able to meet deadlines
Knowledge of local Government laws and rules as well as familiarity with Framework Agreements, Transfer Agreements, Land Code and associated Federal legislation on First Nation Land Management
Knowledge of Squiala First Nation
