LANDING SUCCESS STUDENT COORDINATOR







The Landing Success Student Coordinator will assist in the planning and implementation of the summer transition program for Grade 8 Indigenous students moving to Grade 9 in September. They will also offer personal insight into their experiences at secondary school, i.e., academic expectations, extracurricular activity opportunities, and sports.

Dates:

July 2, 2025 and ending August 1, 2025


Hours of Work:

Full time hours Monday - Friday (Students in attendance from Monday to Thursday; Friday for program planning)




Location:

Kikendaasogamig Elementary School, Neyaashiinigmiing


Supervisor:

Summer Programming Administrator




Remuneration:

$20.00/hour (inclusive of 4% vacation and holiday pay) plus Cooperative Education Credits

Duties and Responsibilities:






Support the successful transition of Grade 8 Indigenous students into Grade 9 through summer activities and programming Provide insight into secondary academic expectations, programming, and extracurricular activities Assist in the planning for and implementation of a summer transition program Model and support the acquisition of the learning skills needed to be successful at secondary school Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:




Candidate must have experience as a Grade 11 or 12 student attending a Bluewater District School Board secondary school. Students must be 16 years old and have not reached the age of 25 upon commencement of employment. Proof of student enrolment must be provided to the employer Residency: The student must be a resident of Ontario during the period of employment and should be living in Ontario at the time they start work Student must be legally entitled to work in Canada and must have a Social Insurance Number

Assets:




An understanding of the Anishinaabe traditions and community Excellent written and oral communication Organized and able to manage competing demands experience mentoring or coaching

Job Requirements:




Clean vulnerable sector police check; Eligible to work in Canada
