We are currently seeking permanent full-time Labourer to join our Operations Team at our Unity Evaporation Plant site in Unity, Saskatchewan.
We are currently seeking to fill a Labourer position that will cover as a spare operator in several capacities when required, Training will be provided to ensure competency prior to being scheduled to various production lines. T The Unity Evaporation Plant is located in a friendly community of 2,500 that loves hockey, curling, baseball/softball, situated in the beautiful big-sky prairies an hour from North Battleford and a 2 hour drive from Saskatoon. We\xe2\x80\x99re proud to be one of Unity\xe2\x80\x99s steadfast employers, currently employing 55-60 people. Annually, we produce 135,000 tons of food grade, water conditioning and agricultural salt, serving our customers throughout Western Canada. How will you contribute to the team? Labourer

  • Responsible for various clean up duties and sanitation of areas assigned by supervisor.
  • Responsible to stack boxes for the slim line production.
  • Responsible to occasionally assist in the maintenance department.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned and assisting on various production lines as a spare operator assigned by supervisor, when required, and/or scheduled
  • Spare Operator Functions, as required: (Training will be provided to ensure competency prior to being scheduled to various production lines)
  • Block Press Operator: Production of 20 kg agricultural blocks
  • Bagger/Palletizer Operator: Production of up to 25 kg bags of various salt product
  • Dust Collector Operator: Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the dust collection equipment and piping
  • IBC Bagger Operator: Production of 1,000 kg salt totes
  • Slim Line Packaging Operator: Production of 1 kg household boxed salt


Qualifications

You bring to the role:
  • have previous work experience in a process-related industry, be knowledgeable about process equipment and control systems, and be flexible to different task assignments.
  • have the ability to understand manufacturer\xe2\x80\x99s operating instruction books, follow complex oral and/or written instructions
  • have the ability to maintain records & reports relative to the operations of the plant
  • have the ability to multi-task, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • be mechanically inclined and have the ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, repair and resolve issues related to the position
  • have a clear understanding of how to accurately perform safety and regulatory responsibilities (i.e. equipment, safe work procedures, etc.)
  • be able to work at heights and confined spaces.
  • be successful with basic math skills and equations
  • have own transportation to report to scheduled shifts on time
  • have valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Education and/or Experience:
    • Completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
    • Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel
    • Previous Forklift Experience is an asset
    • For future growth within the Company a 3rd or 4th Class Interprovincial Power Engineer\xe2\x80\x99s certificate, recognized in the Province of Saskatchewan, is a definite asset, however not necessary
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Stand for extended periods of time while performing work tasks
  • Bend or crouch throughout the work shift to work on equipment.
  • Capability of lifting up to 50 pounds (25 kg) and move items short distances.
  • Reach in all directions to adjust valves and make adjustments to equipment.
  • Comfort with climbing flights of stairs/ladders between floors of the building multiple times a day.
  • Perform fine hand and finger movements to hold tools appropriately and make precise adjustments to equipment

How Often Are You Here? be available for varied shifts
  • 8 hour (Monday to Friday) or rotating 12 hours (which sometimes include weekends)
  • If you do not live nearby, you will be required to relocate.
