Reporting to the Foreman, Roads Services, the Labourer II is responsible for performing a wide variety of manual tasks within the Roads Services Department. This position uses safe work practices and procedures to carry out assigned tasks and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the work team. The incumbent will work shift work as scheduled and overtime as required.
Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to:
Assist with equipment maintenance during snow clearing operations
Set up and remove snow clearing signage
Provide traffic control support during snow clearing operations
Repair and wash roadway signage as required
Assist with highload moves and related signage needs
Perform pothole patching and roadway repairs
Pick up debris and litter from roadways
Clear catch basins as needed
Assist with completing work orders related to the Roads Section
Qualifications
------------------
The successful candidate must have a Class 5 Driver's License and a Grade 12 Diploma. Related road and maintenance experience along with exposure to working in a Municipal setting is considered an asset. A Standard First Aid certificate and Flagman Training is required. Good organizational and excellent customer service skills, with the ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing are essential. This is a physically demanding position; incumbents will be required to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions.
This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement. Candidates are required to provide a current Driver's Abstract at time of interview.
Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly (Scheduled shift work)
Duration: Immediately - December 31, 2025
