Position Overview:
As a Labour Relations Advisor with Finning Canada, you will work with business leaders, HR representatives and union representatives across multiple regions and business units.
Using your knowledge and expertise, you will provide advice and guidance to business leaders and HR Representatives on labour relations fundamentals, collective agreement interpretation/application and provide training to front and mid-level leaders across the organization.
Building positive relationships with Union representatives is a major responsibility of this role and you will utilize that relationship to act as a Company spokesperson in union-management meetings, grievance meetings and collective bargaining to strengthen the labour relations environment.

Major Job Responsibilities:Provide advice, guidance and solutions to business leaders and HR representatives regarding the interpretation, compliance, administration and implementation of Collective Agreements across multiple Provinces and collective agreements.
Grievance management including investigating and responding to union grievances at all levels of the process, including arbitration
Contribute to full-cycle collective bargaining preparation, research and costing , table negotiations and implementation
Develop and deliver labour relations training content
Demonstrate a keen interest in the business by partnering with your clients and understanding their operation and how labour relations can be leveraged to drive business growth and employee engagement
Establish positive relationships with union representatives and take a leadership role in union-management meetings
Oversee and be responsible for the research, administration and distribution of labour relations documents such as collective agreements, letters of understanding, specific project labour agreements, wage schedules, etc
Negotiate, create and implement various letters of understanding in partnership with union, HR and business representatives
Work closely with HR representatives to resolve employee and labour relations issues in a timely manner
Maintain best practice and knowledge of setting precedent on issues which put the company at risk
Work with internal and external legal counsel on complex labour relations matters
Act as a point of contact for external and internal Industrial Relations and unionized Human Rights related inquiries
Qualifications:Post-secondary education in human resources management, labour relations management or a related field.
Minimum of 5-7 years progressive experience in human resources, coupled with a minimum of 3 years working in an unionized environment including but not limited to: full-cycle collective bargaining, grievance resolution, arbitration proceedings, human rights matters
Understands the requirements to work in a unionized environment
Knows how to apply the collective agreement
High proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint) and comfortable navigating in HRIS. Experience with Workday is an asset.
Knowledge of pertinent legislation and case law
HR designation (CPHR) or significant progress towards completion considered an asset
Knowledge of HR Programs, Policies & Procedures coupled with business acumen
