We access support and funding for non-profit organizations through all levels of Government and Crown funding agencies. Currently we are in need of an experienced Foreman to join our Victoria Team! This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for experience in the rewarding field of social-purpose housing development and with one of BC's most respected and proven developers.
Responsibilities

  • Ability to effectively lead, mentor and motivate crew while demonstrating team values and work ethic.
  • Schedule equipment and manpower needs with superintendent
  • Review scope of work with superintendent and execute key functions, while also performing hands on tasks.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and specifications to provide clear instructions to the crew
  • Assist superintendent with organizing and coordinating the daily activities of all crew members, sub-contractors and equipment.
  • Ensure all applicable environmental regulations are adhered to throughout the construction process.
  • Attend project closeout meeting to ensure successful completion of projects.
  • Document all pertinent project information, including site conditions, employee issues, and changes in scope of work.
  • Review grade sheets for accuracy.
  • Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers and others on the work sites.
  • Reports unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor and participates in the investigative process.
  • Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
  • Recognize, address, and resolve issues among crew members
  • Comply with established company policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Skills and Requirements:
  • 5-7 years of experience as a labourer or labourer foreman
  • Must be able to perform heavy manual labour, including ability to lift, handle, and move 50lbs
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to effectively communicate and solve problems with site supervisors, team members and subcontractors
  • Must have a valid drivers license and own transportation
  • Current safety tickets, an asset
  • Strong work ethic, excellent attendance record, and a good attitude required
  • Ability to work under pressure in some situations.

Successful candidate will be required to provide official documentation confirming receipt of two (2) doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, as recognized for use in Canada, prior to starting employment. Continued employment will be conditional on receiving, and providing confirmation of, any additional “booster” vaccine doses, as recommended by the Ministry of Health & Provincial Health Officer. Exceptions based on medical, religious or other valid grounds will be considered on a case by case basis.
