RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Position summary
The Laboratory technician\'s role is to support the fundamental research of researchers, client and/or collaborators, using the services of the Gnotobiotic Animal Research Platform. He/she carries out experimental technical procedures for research projects according to precise schedules and high-quality standards. The technician uses and operates state-of-the-art equipment and ensures its proper functioning and maintenance. Reports to and works closely with the platform manager to ensure efficient operations and the achievement of objectives.
General Duties

• Executes the various project-specific techniques of several distinct research teams and communicates with customers.
• Collects samples and data for analysis according to high standard sterility methods and techniques.
• Keeps track of the inventory of consumables and equipment needed for daily operations and advises the platform manager of any purchases required.
• Collaborates and communicates with ARD staff in daily operations when applicable.

Education: Diploma of College Studies (DEC)
Other education considered an asset for this position: Experience in fundamental research in a public institution.
Work Experience: 3 years in a similar position.
Required Skills

• Excellent French and English, spoken and written
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Good analytical and logic skills
• Problem assessment and problem solving abilities
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)

Additional information
Status: Temporary, part time. 22.5 hours a week.
Pay Scale: 40,531.40 to 60,824.40/year. Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday , 8:00am to 4:30pm
Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie
