DESCRIPTION:

Laboratory Technician - Metals - Richmond, BC [Full Time - Monday- Friday(3:30Pm-12:00am)]

Responsibilities and required tasks:



Perform all required quality control procedures. Ensure that work is conducted in adherence with quality standards. Maintain logs and record as required by quality documents. Follow analytical methods in accordance with SOPs and specific study requirements. Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference materials, etc. Perform sample preparation using documented procedures. - filtration, screening, extraction and digestion. Perform laboratory analyses following documented specific methods and/or procedures. Carry out all required record-keeping and documentation and assist in sample flow and archiving as well as data archiving. Operate instrumentation and process analytical data. Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate instrumentation. Assist in developing new and revising existing SOPs and validation schedules. Carry out all required data processing (i.e., calculations, data review, data entry, archival, etc.). Dispose samples according to local regulations. Assist to restock laboratory consumables/chemicals, and general laboratory clean-up and maintenance. Receive and ship supplies. Conduct field sampling where applicable. Clean lab areas, glassware and other reusable labware. Complete other administrative duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:



University or College degree/diploma in related discipline. Previous work experience in a production laboratory is an asset. Previous experience in a fast-paced environment is preferred. Proficient with standard computer software (MS Office, LIMS, etc.) Ability to adapt to a changing environment. Ability to fit tested for a respirator Self-starting with solid follow-through and multi-tasking capabilities. Detail orientated & record keeping skills. Managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Flexible in working hours (evenings and weekends) during peak periods. Ability to lift heavy objects up to 40 lbs.
