Reporting to the Laboratory Team Lead, you will be responsible for assigned field sampling, analytical and quality control work within Suncor Energy\xe2\x80\x99s MacKay River Laboratory.
The Laboratory Technician will help identify opportunities for future career development in the laboratory team and enhance technical knowledge and critical thinking.

Minimum Requirements:

Must possess a minimum of a two-year diploma in Chemical Technology or a Bachelor of Science from a recognized institution with a preference for a specialty in chemistry

Position requires walking distances for sampling duties in both indoor and outdoor industrial areas in all weather conditions

Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs and you may be required to stand for long periods of time

Valid, unrestricted CLASS 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and a clean driving record

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent time management skills, and the ability to multi-task

Strong collaboration skills: you collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the best outcome.

Responsibilities:

Performing routine and project based sampling and analytical work on petroleum and wastewater samples, following standard operating procedures in a safe and effective manner

Record and report analytical results in compliance with established QA/QC procedures

Comply with the Suncor operating and maintenance safe work practices, procedures and standards

Support the department and Suncor\xe2\x80\x99s internal customers by providing analytical, instrumental, and technical problem solving

Learn and grow with the Organization.

Location and other Key Detail:

You will work out of our MacKay River site in Fort McMurray, Alberta

This is not a camp position and we are seeking a LOCAL candidate who resides in the Fort McMurray urban or rural service area on a fulltime basis

This is a 12 hour shift work position that requires rotating day and night work (additionally, ~3H round trip commute daily from/to your door)

Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work.
