The Department of Pharmacology is an integral part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. We are proud of the excellence of our scientific research and our deep commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.
Pharmacology is a fundamental discipline that touches all medical specialities and society. We are the experts in drug actions and targets, their testing and application to humans and in society. The Department has a rich history of teaching and research, beginning in 1961. Today, the Department includes 15 Faculty Members, 8 Adjunct Faculty, 34 staff and 20 graduate students. This also includes EPICORE Centre and the Consultation and Research Services Platform of the Alberta Strategy for Patient Oriented Research Support Unit (CRS-ABSPORU) - providing research design, methods, data management, biostatistical, and other research support services to clinical and translational researchers.
Position
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the lab technician will be responsible to perform lab maintenance duties, such as ordering material, keeping an up-to-date inventory or reagents as well as SOP documents. The lab technician will also need to plan and conduct experiments as instructed by the principal investigator.
Duties
Maintenance of cell lines
Isolation of RNA/DNA and other routine molecular biology tasks
Mouse handling and colony maintenance
General laboratory maintenance
Metabolite analysis by HPLC
Perform other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Laboratory Technologist Diploma
Minimum two years in a research laboratory environment
