We are seeking a proactive, responsible, and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our growing technical team. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be the hands-on engine of our laboratory and pilot-scale operations. Working under the guidance of our Process Chemists, you will be responsible for the precise execution of our groundbreaking mineral recovery processes. The ideal candidate is a reliable and intuitive individual who excels at following operating procedures, meticulously logging data, and maintaining a safe and efficient lab environment. This role is essential for generating the high-quality data needed to scale our technology.
Responsibilities:
Process Execution:
Accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to run hydrometallurgical experiments and pilot-scale process runs.
Sample Management:
Prepare and manage samples, including weighing materials, preparing solutions and standards, and organizing feedstock and product samples.
Data Logging:
Meticulously record all experimental parameters, observations, and results in lab notebooks and digital logs with a high degree of accuracy.
Lab Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment. This includes cleaning glassware, maintaining equipment, and managing chemical inventory.
Team Support:
Provide hands-on support to the Process Chemists and Engineers, assisting with the setup and teardown of experimental apparatus.
Proactive Observation:
Actively monitor experiments, identifying and flagging any deviations from the expected process or potential safety issues to the chemistry team.
Qualifications:
Minimum, A diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, or a related technical field.
Experience working in a laboratory or industrial processing environment is a strong asset.
Demonstrated ability to follow detailed procedures and protocols with precision.
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
A responsible and proactive work ethic with a commitment to safety.
Basic computer skills for data entry (e.g., Microsoft Suite).
Bonus Points:
Hands-on experience with hydrometallurgical or chemical separation processes.
Familiarity with analytical lab equipment.
Experience working in a startup or R&D environment.
