Your Opportunity:

Fort Saskatchewan is a city along the North Saskatchewan River in Alberta, Canada. It is 25 kms northeast of Edmonton and Alberta Hospital Edmonton is located in the northeast of Edmonton. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, processing and reporting quality specimens for analysis. The Medical Laboratory Assistant I primary responsibilities include collection of blood specimens from adults and children using macro and micro phlebotomy techniques, performing ECGs, complete urinalysis, accessioning patient information into the laboratory EPIC computer system, processing samples, transport of specimens and slides, troubleshooting problem specimens and reception duties.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in urinalysis and performing ECGs is preferred.
