Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Manager to join our team in Coquitlam/Abbotsford/Kelowna. In this role, you will be a technical manager overseeing laboratory operations in 3 locations, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining our commitment to excellence in analytical testing.
Responsibilities
Overseeing daily lab operations flow and delegating tasks accordingly to lab staff scheduled at both Abbotsford and Coquitlam lab locations;
Prepare monthly QAQC statistics and discuss at monthly lab meeting
Perform lab internal audit according to ISO17025 requirements
Participate in accreditation assessments by CALA auditors.
Provide performance evaluations and feedback to staff intermittently and annually
Afterhours scheduling and rotation of staff;
Handling Lab Director role during her absence or vacation: i.e. accepting call centre calls and dispatch of afterhours analyst
Manage daily laboratory operations to ensure efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
Analysis of Asbestos, Lead and Mould test types;
Investigating quality problems and recommending corrective actions.
Identifying revisions to forms, documents and SOP methods that require changes and/or updates;
Handling customers' feedback and complaints
Overseeing all proficiency testing programs
Make recommendations for calibrating, maintenance and replacement of lab equipment.
Oversee requests to order lab supplies
Responsible for maintaining and revise standard operating procedures
Train new and existing lab personnel on the correct use of lab equipment, in addition to mentoring and disciplining lab staff. Ie. Ensure lab staff follow industry standards and safety regulations for handling and disposing of test samples
Supervise laboratory staff and provide training and on-going education on best practices.
Oversee data collection and analysis processes to ensure accuracy.
Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and safety regulations.
Collaborate with other departments and client companies to meeting objectives and support project goals.
Prepare reports on laboratory performance and test results.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field or equivalent experience.
3-5 experience in a senior laboratory management role
Strong data collection and analytical skills.
Basic computer literacy: Microsoft Office, LIMS, and keyboarding skills
Interpersonal communication skills written and verbal
Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
Familiarity with ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation processes, quality systems and proficiency testing programs.
Ability to work collaboratively with a small team in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to drive (must have car, fuel will be compensated) between Abbotsford and Coquitlam lab locations) and intermittent visits to Kelowna lab
Experience training and supervising staff
Any former Microscopy education and/or experience for analysis of Asbestos and fungal Mould spores
Any former Spectrometry education and/or experience for analysis of Lead
Any former Microbiology education and/ or experience for analysis of fungal Mould spores.
