Our commitment to employment equity helps achieve inclusion and fairness, brings rich diversity to UBC as a workplace, and creates the necessary conditions for a rewarding career.Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Knowledge Translation (KT) Project Manager for a one-year, part-time position, to support a CIHR Planning & Dissemination grant related to creating a national, gender inclusive language resource for researchers and for general KT Project support.The project supported by the KT Project Manager, Beyond the Binary Canada, involves a) converting an existing BC-based guide for gender inclusive language in women\xe2\x80\x99s health research to a national scope; and b) enabling the broad dissemination and use of the new national guide. This process will involve engagement, collection of feedback, and implementation of feedback from both the researcher and community members, who are structured as the \xe2\x80\x9cResearcher Task Force\xe2\x80\x9d and \xe2\x80\x9cCommunity Task Force\xe2\x80\x9d. The end goal will be a comprehensive, representative, resource guide to service Canadian women\xe2\x80\x99s health researchers in using gender inclusive language. Practically, this role will directly support the financial aspects of Beyond the Binary Canada including stipends for Community Task Force members, vendors to support the graphic design and French translation of the new guide.The KT Project Manager will lead the activity planning of virtual meetings and events including, roundtable and National Knowledge Exchange.Additionally, the KT Project Manager will support WHRI member-initiated KT projects. This includes supporting existing KT projects that aim to bring evidence into policy or practice. Tasks will include the application of KT planning tools (methods, frameworks) and articulating evidence-based KT strategies (e.g. infographics, presentations, web stories, briefing notes, executive summaries). This includes supporting mentorship through consultation, training events, and also through supporting funding applications for KT projects.The KT Project Manager will be based at the Women\xe2\x80\x99s Health Research Institute ( ) located in Vancouver, BC. Hybrid (virtual and in person) work arrangements will be considered.Organizational Status
The KT Project Manager will report directly to Principal Investigator, Dr. Lori Brotto, with dotted line reporting to the WHRI Manager, Research + Knowledge Translation, who oversees the KT portfolio and projects of the institute.Work PerformedMajor responsibilities include:PROJECT MANAGEMENTManages the Beyond the Binary and other KT project timelines and milestones to ensure the work is completed in accordance with the project funding period. Work with WHRI Manager, Research + Knowledge Translation to review and revise KT project priorities, as well as, identify opportunities to overcome unforeseen project barriers.Lead the Beyond the Binary activities, such reconciling feedback from research and community partners, advising on how project activities are operationalized, and coordinating project documentation, meetings and events.Provide support (drafting project updates to the NPA and Research Task Force Chair (Dr. Lori Brotto) and Community Task Force Chair (Bev Pomeroy) in communicating regular updates to project members and strategic partners.Manage contractors (French translation, graphic design) in the creation of an updated, national resource guide for Beyond the Binary in both English and French. Provide editorial feedback on drafts, and approve final products.Over the project period, document potential KT strategies and partnership opportunities that would increase the impact of Beyond the Binary Canada. Work with Beyond the Binary collaborators across Canada to develop a comprehensive KT plan to enable dissemination of the Beyond the Binary Canada resource guide. Create a Beyond the Binary Communications Toolkit (graphics, web copy).Act as the point person for all collaborators and partners.Perform other duties, as necessaryCOMMUNICATIONDraft and deploy Beyond the Binary Canada project updates to both the Researcher Task Force and Community Task Force members.Provide oversight and management of the Beyond the Binary website, hosted by the WHRI.Support the promotion of the Beyond the Binary Canada, and other KT projects by drafting updates and announcements for the WHRI communications programming (newsletter, web story, social media, podcast).Develop and provide presentations to Beyond the Binary Co-Investigators and for other KT project teams.FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND BUDGETINGManage project finances in WorkDay, such as Community Partner honoraria, and contractor fees for translation and graphic design.Provide grant facilitation support (identification of funding sources, proposal writing, budgeting) for KT projects.Consequence of Error/Judgement
The KT Project Manager must operate with a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and integrity. Their role is representative of WHRI to a national audience of health researchers and community partners. Poor judgment, decisions and work ethics could seriously jeopardize longstanding and newly formed partnerships critical to increasing the real-world impact of the WHRI\xe2\x80\x99s KT work and may adversely affect the creditability and integrity of the University\'s research operations.Supervision Received

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one\xe2\x80\x99s own- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one\xe2\x80\x99s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusionPreferred QualificationsMaster\'s or PhD degree in health or social sciences preferred. Experience of research project management, research administration, and knowledge mobilization approaches (partnerships, collaboration, and dissemination). Impeccable oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by strong presentations, report writing and electronic communication. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage diverse audiences and work with people of diverse milieus and backgrounds with respect, tact and diplomacy. Strong skills in developing and implementing KMb plans, activities and products. Ability to build networks and manage relationships with internal and external partners. Ability to take complex, scientific information and translate into clear language for an inclusive group of knowledge users. Demonstrated project management and organizational skills. Combines an ability to work independently with an intuitive sense of when consultation is appropriate or when senior leaders need to be engaged on an issue or project. Highly organized with the ability to prioritize assignments and take on a variety of tasks. Possesses a collaborative, team-focused working style. Proficiency in the MS Office Suite of computer software, WordPress, Canva, and MailChimp. Ability to learn new systems and technologies to create project efficiencies, as needed.Experience working with health researchers, clinicians, and public/community partners at the provincial, national and international level. Experience working with Indigenous people, communities, and Indigenous-focused health and social services organizations; knowledge of principles and approaches to engaging in research and KT with Indigenous people and groups; demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, including community members and marginalized populations.
