Position Summary
Reporting to the Kitchen, Manager, the Kitchen Support Staff is responsible for delivering, preparing, and storing food products as well as ensuring the kitchen, the equipment and areas including the bathrooms are cleaned and maintained daily. The duties of this position also include working with the team to meal plan following the Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Food Guide, ensuring the menu is within the kitchen budget while keeping in mind that we are cooking and delivering child friendly nutritious and tasty meals. Ensuring that all AHS Food Safety Standards as well as The Inn\xe2\x80\x99s Kitchen Standards are followed. Checklists and temperature lists are filled out daily and communication with team members is up to date and accurate.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspection daily on equipment and van and report any deficiencies.
  • Operate, maintain, and deliver equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • Sort and unload food products, delivering them with a trolley to various locations using the proper lifting and carrying methods as outlined in the HR Downloads course \xe2\x80\x9cProper Lifting Techniques\xe2\x80\x9d.
  • Safely operate and drive The Inn\xe2\x80\x99s van to pick up and deliver various items and products while respecting all road/traffic rules.
  • Verify correct product is delivered and picked up at every location.
  • Load and unload goods.
  • Use maps and other trip planning aids.
  • Maintain good communication with office staff, peers and clients.
  • Prepare, present, and store food products following the AHS Food Safety Standards and The Inn\xe2\x80\x99s Kitchen Standards.
  • Ensure refrigerators/ freezers and storerooms are clean, organized and maintained in various kitchen areas including bathrooms on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with the Kitchen Team to plan menus that follow the Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Food Guide and are within budget.
  • Update and adhere to kitchen checklists, temperature checks and prep sheets.
  • Complete assigned work duties in a timely manner, meeting required deadlines.
  • Aid in maintaining and ensuring departmental objectives and timelines are met
  • Sanitize all equipment several times daily.
  • Practice proper grooming, personal hygiene, and uniform standards.
  • Must have a class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with a clean driving record. A driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract will be requested on 1st day of employment.
  • Will need to have applied for a Police Check and Vulnerable Sector check before starting employment.
  • Able to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
