Banh Mi Boy is looking for a reliable Kitchen Hand/Cook to support daily food preparation, broth and protein cooking, and maintaining an organized back-of-house environment. This position is primarily kitchen-focused, with
POS use only if absolutely necessary
when front staff is unavailable.
We are seeking someone with real kitchen experience who can work efficiently, follow recipes, and uphold food safety standards.
Job Responsibilities
Food Prep & Cooking
Prep and marinate meats (pork, chicken, beef) following house recipes.
Assist in preparing broths, soups, stocks, and aromatics.
Cook and portion ingredients for banh mi, vermicelli bowls, and rice dishes.
Assemble vermicelli bowls and other dishes during service.
Maintain portion control and consistency of food items.
Kitchen Operations
Follow all food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Keep prep areas, cutting stations, and kitchen equipment clean and organized.
Restock ingredients and communicate low inventory items to the team.
Assist with opening, closing, and daily cleaning procedures.
Maintain an efficient and safe work environment.
POS Use (Only If Needed)
Operate the POS system only when needed to support the team.
No ongoing customer service duties.
Valid Food Handlers Certification -- must provide proof before starting.
Prior kitchen experience required
(minimum 6 months as prep cook, line cook, or similar).
Knowledge of basic food prep techniques (cutting, portioning, marinating).
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Strong focus on cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
Able to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Able to lift up to ~25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
ASSETS (Preferred but Not Required)
Vietnamese language skills strongly recommended
Experience in Vietnamese or Asian cuisine.
Experience preparing meats, broths, or cold toppings.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Minimum
6 months kitchen experience required

Experience with broth making, marinating, grilling, or assembling bowls is an asset.
