Under the direction of the Instructors and Production Chef, kitchen staff will perform duties related to the kitchen and bakeshop areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with student hands-on learning and skill development
Active supervision of students in kitchen, bakeshop and service area
Assists in kitchen/bakeshop to prepare food in a bulk setting for cafeteria and catering
Food Service
Daily maintenance and cleaning of kitchen, bakeshop, and cafeteria service area including washing dishes/tools/equipment, garbage removal and sweeping/mopping of floors including in fridges/freezers
Deep cleaning/sanitizing as required
Laundering of all items
Food production and service for school events
Operation of cash register as required
Receives incoming supplies, stores and rotates items, fill/stock/face/label/date product
Adhere to department sanitation, safety, and dress code policies
Other duties as required
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certificate from a Vocational Cooking School is preferred
Has Food Handler Certificate
Experience in a commercial kitchen/restaurant setting (2-year min required)
Experience operating a cash register is an asset

Able to work in an active physical environment that may require sitting, standing, bending, crouching, lifting (20kg), pushing, pulling, squatting, etc. (specific requirements will vary by assignment)
Ability to operate/clean commercial kitchen tools/equipment
Working conditions:
Ability to work in an environment that may be subject to sudden temperature and humidity changes
Use of PPE when using cleaning chemicals
