Kitchen Assistant

Overview

We are seeking a passionate kitchen assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef and Catering Coordinator in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining a positive work environment. Duties

Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities. Ensure that all food is prepared according to established recipes and standards for quality and presentation. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations. Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist with ordering as needed. Collaborate with Executive Director, Program Coordinator and Volunteer staff to ensure timely service and guest satisfaction. Help create menus, specials, and seasonal offerings.

Skills

Proficient in food preparation techniques with a strong understanding of culinary principles. Knowledge of Kosher food services and Jewish customs is an asset. Demonstrated team management abilities, fostering a collaborative kitchen environment. Knowledge of food handling practices and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Excellent communication skills to interact with both staff and volunteers. Experience in hospitality settings, enhancing the overall dining experience for guests. A commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
Must be available early weekday mornings.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
