About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, Primary Health Care, the Kinesiologist is responsible for development, implementation and continuous quality improvement of program components - particularly in the area of exercise, physical activity, and healthy lifestyle counselling - that aims to optimize healthy lifestyle choices, health promotion, and chronic disease prevention/management in a primary health care setting. Working as a part of an inter-disciplinary team, the Kinesiologist supports the Chronic Disease Management team with a particular focus on cardiac rehabilitation. The Kinesiologist assesses clients with a wide range of risk factors, chronic conditions, and limitations.

The Kinesiologist ensures that the principles and practices that guide NSH such as the vision, mission, values, expected behaviors\', the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the support that is provided by the work that they do and through the messages they deliver.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology required
  • Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification through CSEP or ACSM required
  • Minimum 1 year related experience required
  • Cardiac Rehab/COPD Rehab Experience preferred
  • BCLS and First Aid
  • Demonstrated accountability and responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to build internal and external collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated networking, negotiation and change management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement initiatives and evidence based practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practice and organizational health
  • Sound knowledge of population health and primary health care
  • Sound knowledge of programming related to the target population
  • Sound knowledge of and demonstrated compliance with standards, ethics and legislation
  • Current valid Nova Scotia Driver\'s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required as travel is a requirement of this position
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent Part-time (50%) position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays
Compensation and Incentives

$30.23 - $35.28 Hourly
