Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the implementation of musculoskeletal injury prevention programs in clinical and nonclinical settings within NL Health Services Eastern Urban and Rural zones. Incumbent will be participating in preprogram implementation assessments, implementation including training of employees/management and assisting with post program implementation follow-up and evaluation. The incumbent will report to Regional Workplace Safety Manager and work closely with the Regional Ergonomics Program coordinator.
Incumbent will be the lead trainer for the Safe Patient Resident Handling program and Manual Material Handling program and promote a safety culture and safe work practices to multiple stakeholders in clinical and non-clinical areas throughout the organization. Core competencies of this position include following evidenced based practice, must be self-directed as position has autonomy, managing multiple complex assignments, time management and prioritization skills. Incumbent is responsible for contributing to the organization\'s Occupational Health and Safety Management system.

Occasionally lifts or moves objects between 10 - 25 lbs.
Regularly requires a variety of body movement including bending, kneeling, and stretching and pushing and pulling objects using light to medium force.
Regularly requires fine finger/precision work and sitting at a computer.
Auditory concentration is required to listen attentively to clients and team members to obtain and interpret information correctly. Higher than normal levels of attentiveness is required when facilitating discussions and committee meetings.
Time pressures and interruptions are experienced with little control over work pace.
Job Qualifications
Graduation with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology or Human Kinetics from an accredited program is required.
Registration or eligible for registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Kinesiology Association is required.
Experience working as a Kinesiologist in a health care/occupational health setting would be considered an asset.
The successful applicant should exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by delivering presentations, facilitating education sessions and writing reports; be self-motivated; be able to work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative; and demonstrate effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
