Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care for our animals and maintaining a clean, safe environment. This role is vital in supporting the daily operations of our kennel facility, ensuring the well-being of pets and delivering excellent customer service to pet owners. The ideal candidate is compassionate, hardworking, and able to handle physical tasks with care and professionalism.

Duties

Assist with cleaning and sanitizing kennels, cages, and common areas to maintain hygiene standards Feed and water animals according to established schedules and protocols Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress and report concerns to veterinary staff or management Provide basic grooming assistance such as brushing or bathing under supervision Support with loading and unloading supplies, including heavy lifting of bags of pet food, bedding, and cleaning materials Interact with pet owners courteously, answering questions and providing updates on their pets' wellbeing Help with daily exercise routines by walking or playing with animals as needed Maintain organized storage of supplies and ensure the kennel area remains tidy and safe

Skills

Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and visitors Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, including moving supplies or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds

Compassionate attitude towards animals and attention to their needs

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Good physical stamina for standing, bending, and lifting throughout shifts Basic understanding of animal care practices is a plus but not required; training will be provided

Pay: From $17.60 per hour
