Responsibilities

:

Reporting to the Coordinator, Case Management, the Justice Case Manager - Enhanced Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team will work in partnership with the Greater Sudbury Police Services (GSPS) to respond to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises. This role is part of a joint police/mental health initiative aimed at reducing emergency room visits due to mental health and substance use concerns and preventing involvement with the criminal justice system. Key responsibilities include:

Respond to mental health and substance use crises alongside police. Conduct assessments and identify areas of risks and concerns. Assess ability and willingness to engage in support and safety planning. Provide recommendations for intervention as appropriate. Provide supportive and resource counselling, fitness assessment screening and education, and consultation to law enforcement personnel. Provide best practice brief interventions and transitional case management support, including referrals to appropriate community resources as required and with informed consent of the individual.
The JCM E-MCRRT will be required to work days, afternoons, evenings, weekdays, weekends and holidays as required.

Qualifications

:

Completion of a Degree in a health or social services related discipline. Valid Ontario Driver's License & access to a reliable vehicle. Ability to work flexible hours, including days, afternoons and evenings as part of the MCCRT rotation. Weekends will be required when the rotation expands. Certification in First Aid & CPR, ASIST, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and WHIMIS. If certification is not current, training will be required as part of orientation. Minimum of 2 years' experience working in the mental health field. Knowledge of Mental Health legislation, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Criminal Code of Canada and of the court system, Child and Family legislation, Tenant Protection Act and Long-Term Care Act. Fluency in English is essential. Bilingual requirements will be posted in accordance with the FLS Designation Plan. Bilingualism is required for 40% of positions. If a position is designated bilingual and no bilingual candidates (both internal and external) meet the qualifications, unilingual candidates may be considered. Registration, in good standing, with a regulating professional body (e.g. OCSWSSW) is required or working towards registration.

Selected candidate must obtain a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (CPIC) and pass the Greater Sudbury Police Service background screening as a condition of employment.

Bachelor - Hourly, Step 1:$28.12 -- Step 4: $33.09
