We are currently looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join our growing Calgary based Municipal Infrastructure Group. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills and demonstrated experience in water and wastewater infrastructure, stormwater management and flood protection projects of varying scope and size for municipalities, developers and First Nations clients.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will work, manage, design, implement and oversee projects from inception through to construction. A summary of expected responsibilities would include:

  • Developing engineering solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure, stormwater management and flood protection projects
  • Planning projects, developing accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, schedules and deliverables to execute high quality projects on time and on budget
  • Managing projects including Financial Controls, Project Management, and Client Relationships, in accordance with our Quality Management System
  • Preparation of proposals, reports, preliminary and detailed designs, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, tendering, and contract administration
  • Liaise with other discipline leads, project managers, vendors and clients to facilitate smooth flow of information for use in preparing preliminary and detailed design
  • Apply knowledge of North American codes, regulations and standards and have a good working knowledge of local Municipal Specifications, Guidelines and best industry practices
  • Provide technical leadership to the Civil team on projects, including verifying and validating the work of other Civil Engineers and Designers
  • Participate in design reviews on various projects and provide technical input
  • Monitor project schedule and budgets within your area of responsibility and report status on a regular basis
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, regulatory and utility agencies, and contractors
  • Attend project meetings as required
  • Providing technical mentorship to junior staff
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in water, wastewater and stormwater projects, preferably in the consulting industry
  • Experience or aptitude for proposal writing, client development, working in a team setting to meet timelines and other skills appropriate to consulting
  • Strong communication, report writing, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Registered (or eligible to register) as a Civil Engineer with APEGA
  • Must be able to work independently and with others on multiple projects
  • Able to work as part of a multi-discipline design team
