What you will do:



Junior Tool Designer will design tooling for production and quality.

Modelling and detail design of tooling used in the production, gauging and testing of high-volume automotive components.

Employ sound engineering principles and calculations to ensure low-cost, high-quality tools and fixtures.

Ensure successful completion of tooling on time and on budget

Participate in the implementation of tooling during Tool Trial and PPAP; monitoring results to ensure consistency

Investigate current designs to maintain simplicity, commonality and functionality of the assembly tooling

Participate in the Process Requirement meetings with APQP team

Participate in prototype & early builds for new or modified product designs, provides input to the product design team regarding manufacturability and process parameters

Perform studies and analysis in support of process improvements and new tooling

Prepare drawings and design specifications

Build or modify capital equipment or tooling to meet project timelines and budget

Prepare documentation including maintenance requirements, spare parts and tool checklists.

Assists Tool Designers and Senior Tool Designers when required.

What you will bring:



Knowledge/Qualifications

Degree / Diploma in Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering

Understanding of GD&T, SPC and PFMEA

Understanding of the automotive industry requirements and APQP process

Basic knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes such as staking, pressing, screwdriving, riveting and CNC machining.

Minimum 1 year of detailed tool design or equivalent.

Minimum of 1 year of design using SolidWorks
