Junior Structural Engineer
to join our dynamic and collaborative engineering team.
This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in structural design, analysis, and project execution. As a Junior Structural Engineer, you will play a key supporting role throughout all phases of the design and construction process, working closely with senior engineers and drafters to help develop structural solutions that meet safety standards, applicable codes, and client expectations.
You will assist in the preparation of structural plans and drawings, support project coordination and execution, and contribute to innovative engineering solutions across a variety of projects. This role provides mentorship, meaningful hands-on experience, and long-term growth opportunities within an innovative and quality-driven engineering firm.
Educational and Professional Requirements:
BaSc in Civil Engineering at a Canadian Accredited University with a focus on structural electives
Active membership with EGBC or APEGA as a registered Structural EIT or P.Eng.
Proof of ongoing professional development courses similar to SEABC course offerings
Knowledgeable of Part 4 of the BC Building code
Familiarity with current steel, wood, concrete design codes
Previous experience in precast concrete design and steel structures is an asset
Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, Etabs, Woodworks, Forte, Excel, etc.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. This position provides a valuable platform for professional growth in structural engineering disciplines while contributing to impactful projects.
Personal requirements:
Valid BC driver's license and access to a reliable personal vehicle
Ability to communicate in English effectively both orally and written
Strong attention to detail and project constructability
Previous construction experience is an asset
Key Responsibilities:
Work independently and collaboratively within a team to complete structural designs for large-scale commercial projects
Provide timely Bluebeam/PDF drafting markups to the drafting department
Complete shop drawings for structural components of building systems, including roof decking, structural steel, roof and floor trusses, doors, and related assemblies
Perform structural design calculations and participate in peer design reviews
Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, including verbal communication over the phone
Assist in the development of detailed drawings and specifications using Revit and structural analysis software
Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry standards and local building codes
Support senior engineers in analyzing structural components and systems to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.

Pay: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
