Van Boxmeer & Stranges Engineering Ltd. Current opportunity available for: STRUCTURAL DESIGNER \xe2\x80\x93 JUNIOR
(full-time permanent position) Location: Toronto, Ontario Van Boxmeer & Stranges Engineering Ltd. (VB&S) is seeking a Junior Structural Designer for our Toronto office. The candidate will work under the direction of the Project Engineer. VB&S provides structural consulting services to Architects, Owners and Institutions. Our projects include high rise apartment builders for some of the largest developers in Southern Ontario, universities colleges, recreation centers and schools. Our firm uses Building Information Modeling (BIM), using REVIT, and AutoCad. VB&S was incorporated over 25 years ago. We have developed a system that provides high quality analysis, design and contract documents. We provide a design that is economical and efficient. Many of our clients consider VB&S to be one of the top structural engineering firms that they have worked with. Responsibilities

• Support the Project Engineer and project design team with preparing detailed structural design of commercial, residential, institutional, healthcare and recreational buildings
• Involved with the project from conceptual and preliminary stages of design through to completion
• Assist with development of preliminary structural design concepts
• Coordinate project details with clients and engineers from other disciplines
• Investigate and document existing building structure components, for the purpose of developing remedial structural work
• Perform structural design analysis and calculations utilizing FEM analysis tools and spreadsheets
• Ensure quality compliance of projects by maintaining design/checking notes
• Conduct site visits and field services. Attend and coordinate site/field meetingsEnsure construction plans, drawings and specs meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations
• Contract Administration: Perform field reviews of construction and write field report; Review shop drawings; Monitor construction work schedules; Issue site instructions and change notices; Communication and coordination with job site contractors during construction including all related documents and administration (General Review Reports, site meetings etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor level engineering major in Civil/Structural from an accredited Canadian university
• Registered or eligible for registration with the Ontario engineering association (PEO)
• Experience in SAFE, ETABS & SAP2000 preferred or any 3D structural finite element modeling software (ie STAAD etc.)
• Experience in consulting engineering is an asset
• Knowledge of AutoCad and Revit is an asset
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel)
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines
• Great interest in tackling new challenges

• Ability and willingness to learn and have fun
