Job Description

Junior Quantity Surveyor job opportunity with a cost consultancy based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Previous quantity surveying experience from a cost consulting company is preferred.Only candidates who are already legally eligible to work in Canada will be considered.Project DetailsJunior Quantity Surveyor will be assisting with standard commercial duties for both cost management and loan monitoring works.Their cost management works cover various and varied sectors of the industry - aviation, commercial, gaming, institutional and recreational projects - from the concept stage to the pre-tender stage. The employers office is based in Downtown Vancouver.Responsibilities and Duties

• Assisting with Quantity takeoffs for Architectural, Structural, Civil and Landscaping works using on Screen Software for both CIQS Elemental format and Trade/ MasterFormat
• Interacting with consultants and trade contractors in a professional manner.
• Assisting with pricing and preparation of cost plan report, using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PDF Software
• Working with colleagues to review and provide advice on all cost items and contractor commitments.
• Reviewing project finance documents/conditions with a team.
• Helping in performing site inspections
• Working as a team to prepare cash flow projections.

Desired Skills and Experience

• 2-3 years of experience in a similar Junior Quantity Surveyor or Estimator position
• Local BC experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience and capability in carrying out cost and commercial duties, along with a willingness to learn and improve.
• Can work with On Screen take-off software, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and PDF Software.
• Effective team worker
• Strong communication skills

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• Applicants that have a relevant construction degree such as Quantity surveying, Cost management or commercial management will be of the greatest interest.
• Working towards a professional accreditation (CIQS, PQS, MRICS)
