Our Banking client is looking for a Junior Quantitative Analyst (mutual fund, ETF, Excel (VBA), PowerPoint)Length: 12 months contract with the possibility of extension and conversion to full time employmentLocation: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) - 3 days in office at minimum per week (ideally Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), some flexibility on the daysWorking Hours: 9 am to 5 pm with regular overtime during the work weekLine of Business: Global Asset ManagementROLE MANDATE:
As a Junior Analyst on the Distribution Strategy team, you will support the development and execution of strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing the distribution of the mutual funds, ETFs, and other investment products. Reporting to the Head of Distribution Strategy, you will work closely with senior management, business line leaders and a diverse set of stakeholders to deliver advice that solves business problems through research, analysis, and compelling strategic recommendations. The selected candidate will be analytical, organized, and possess advanced Excel/PowerPoint skills. You will be will be working on the distribution strategy team supporting senior leaders across 4 areas of specialization (retail, advisors, institutional (pensions), and alternatives/synthetics (private equity)).ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Assist in the analysis of distribution channels, sales trends, and market opportunities to inform strategic decision-making
  • Support in the creation of reports, dashboards, models, and presentations to analyze and track distribution performance metrics, among other things
  • Assist with the preparation of materials for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management presentations
  • Help manage and maintain distribution data, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Track on compliance approvals and organizing/updating the project tracker as required
  • Conduct research on competitors, market conditions, and client needs to support continued business strategy development and identify opportunities for new products and growth
  • Successful candidates will play a key role in leading strategic projects, managing relationships with senior management and stakeholders at all levels throughout the Bank and driving the Bank's strategic planning process forward
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed
MUST HAVE SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field (Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics)
  • 2 years of experience in asset management, financial services, or a related field
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel (VBA) and PowerPoint
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw conclusions
  • Data driven decision making
  • A strong background/experience in data analysis/data or strategy focus
  • Ability to review data and provide actionable insights
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders
  • Should be willing to speak up when identifying process gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Should be comfortable with stakeholders of all seniority levels and polished in their communication style as will be presenting decks to executives
  • Ability to work independently and takes initiative to address challenges and provide solutions
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and multi-task in a dynamic environment
  • Thinks creatively and proposes new ideas on how to help the overall distribution team
  • Brings new ideas on how to make processes more efficient
  • Experience with process optimization
  • Detail-oriented and organized individual
  • Interested in learning more about data/strategy and financial institutions
  • Flexible in working hours to support overtime hours as required
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
  • CSC or CFA certification nice to have
  • Capital Markets experience an asset (open to previous co-op experience within the field)
  • Coding experience (particularly VBA and Power BI) considered an asset
INTERVIEW PROCESS:
Interview process will consist of two rounds (in person) with a Senior Team Member 1st round and Hiring Manager 2nd round. There will be a take home test to verify Excel/VBA/PowerPoint skill sets for those candidates selected to move forward from the 1st round.
