To support this, we are pleased to introduce the role of Junior Project Manager, as part of the Strategic Growth Team.The Junior Project Manager is supported by the Director of Business Process Development and plays a key role in supporting all aspects of project planning, execution, delivery and sustainability. Through collaboration and cross-functional approach, the Junior Project Manager will provide assistance in the development of project plans, defining timelines, resource allocation, and tracking progress against well-defined KPIs to ensure alignment with organizational goals. The role involves managing tasks, coordinating team efforts, and proactively identifying and addressing potential risks or obstacles. As our new Junior Project Manager you will:
  • Assist in all aspects of project planning including but not limited to:
  • Assisting in defining the scope of a project and overall objectives
  • Help to create detailed project plans that include project deliverables, defined timelines, communication, evaluation and sustainability plans as well as key milestones
  • Ensuring that all project team members are aware of their role and responsibilities
  • Conduct research and gather data to support project decision-making
  • Supporting evaluation during and after project completion
  • Assist with task management including:
  • Define project tasks
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and escalate issues as needed
  • Organize meetings (internal and external) as required
  • Maintain project documentation, including meeting notes, schedules, and status reports
  • Help identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency
  • Assist in budget tracking and resource allocation
  • Assist with project management communication strategies:
  • Coordinates and communicates effectively with internal Village teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of project tasks
  • Support communication between Support Office Teams and Village Leaders and Team Members (interdepartmental), ensuring alignment on all project goals
  • Communicate task updates, and ongoing successes throughout and after the project is completed to team members and stakeholders
  • Addresses questions and concerns throughout the project
To be successful as the Junior Project Manager you will have the following requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in project management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Project Management Certificate is a plus but not required
  • Change Management Certificate or at least experience in applying change management principles
  • Knowledge and experience with program evaluation
  • Knowledge of LTC Act/Regulations and Retirement Home Act an asset 13 years of experience in project coordination or a similar role
  • Highly organized with attention to details and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to be an active listener and tailor communication style to the needs of the group while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to analyze and present data, reports and presentations to various internal groups tailoring messages to a diverse audience with sensitivity and in alignment with Schlegel Villages values
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools experience with project management tools would be an asset (e.g., Microsoft Project, Planner).
  • A proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and pivot while managing many and varied tasks with a proven ability to prioritize complex tasks with critical deadlines and the wisdom to understand when a project or initiative needs to be put on pause
  • Ability to work independently on projects, with tight deadlines, under minimal supervision
  • Willing to travel to Schlegel Village locations as required
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, change management and program evaluation with the ability to both inspire and motivate teams, build consensus and foster trust and transparency while guiding a team toward achieving project goals
  • Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to think strategically
  • Ability to manage conflicts and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and without judgement
